In Dead People (from Here Comes Johnny Law... song available in the sidebar), we reference someone being dead, "face down in the snow. Like Sonny Bono." Well, the story apparently doesn't end there.

SONNY Bono, former husband and singing partner of superstar Cher, was clubbed to death by hitmen on the orders of drug and weapons dealers who feared he was going to expose them, a former FBI agent claims.

Shouting out to the second-place candidates in the presidential primaries. To close that gap, Hillary and Huckabee, you need clever band music videos on the U-TUBES interwebs place.

If you send over a camera crew, El Donk is on it. We can quickly alter our song, "Teen Funeral," to include your name. So instead of "I crashed my car, yeah, I crashed my car," we could sing, "vote for Huckabee, yeah, vote for Huckabee" or "vote for Hillary, yeah, vote for Hillary." With a little extra time, we could work in a rhyme like "he's the candidate for me," or in Hillary's case, "she's the candidate for me."

One possible down side is that the rest of the song would be about teens drinking wine coolers and taking ecstasy and crashing their cars.

Hey, 'tis I, The Baron.

I've been flogging around on this site the last few days, in preparation of the big unveiling (stay tuned!) and in my working, I came across the Rhythm section's Club Roundup for May 23rd, 2007. It's always an honor to be mentioned, of course, but that column was special. It made me laugh.

If you like your music weird and I mean Frank Zappa weird there's no better show for your money than when Madison funk-masters and chance-takers El Donk perform Saturday at 10 p.m. at Mr. Roberts, 2116 Atwood Ave.
The show is free.

I thought that was pretty kick-ass. Or maybe JOHN WIEDENHOEFT is cuttin' on us. Either way, it made me happy.

Which I found hilarious, because I could actually buy them cheaper on ebay than right here. I find it fascinating that someone would sell a used cd for a buck. I mean, seriously. Wouldn't it be more effort to sell it than the measly dollar you'd get out of it? Whatever.

So, the stuff I'm working on? Well, there are fancy little arrows next to our mp3's which allow you to listen to 'em without downloading 'em. That's kinda cool.

Want to chat? We've got that covered too. It's on the right. It's a combination room tagger/chat room. Warning: People can choose their own names, so it's probably not wise to assume that the name you see displayed is in any way meaningful.

hey falcon here, i know it's been awhile since i've rapped at ya
this david bowie show is going to be awesome dude!
@KIng club may 25th thats friday night folks!!
let me tell you these practices have been quite alot of work actually it's been like getting teeth pulled. they have been grueling!!
this bowie shit is way harder than it sounds (if it sounds hard then you know it's really hard)
so we've done 'the doors' we've done 'pink floyd meddle' but this bowie tribute has been kicking our ass , at least those of us that have been practicing it !!boyz??
it's really been alot of fun though
the el donk material suffered a bit at the last gig just because we have been so myopic on the bowie -is that a word? yes it is "you can trust me because i'm jesus"
all of you who miss this show will be very sorry -i hear david bowie himself might come to check this out ???#%^&
but don't fear too much because those of you who miss friday will have another chance to see el donk saturday night @ Mr. Roberts thats right -the next night!!
we will play a generous amount of DBowie this night as well and even try to get it right this time -ha ha

You ready? We narrowed our Maximum Ink cover options down to:

And the winner is...Bowie! We've already started hacking our way through a bunch of tunes (by which I mean, the Falcon painstakingly figures out the chord progressions, and then tries to keep our attention long enough to teach the songs to us). Some wacky fun ideas already, I think this is going to be a fun one. Lots of catalog to work with.

First there was Rokker's "All-Floyd" Bomblastica show, where we covered the "Meddle" album...then there was our Doors coverstravaganza last year. Now Rokker has asked us to do another cover set for his Maximum Ink show in April.

The question is ... who do we cover? We've been generating an ever-growing list of possibilities, and it's a tough choice. Watch this space for our decision...and feel free to throw in your suggestions.

What a country! You can actually listen to El Donk music--get this--on your computer! You can "click!" on the three songs on the right side of this page, or on the four songs at our "myspace" page and your computer will play songs that are by El Donk, just for you!

These kids today, with their I-Pogs and their E-Tunes! When I was growing up, if we wanted to listen to music, we had to kidnap the musicians and beat them until they performed.

Granted, we also had the option of vinyl records and cassette tapes, so we didn't technically have to do that. But it was the way of my people. And it was a good way.

fist off the new el donk DVD is out!!!
it's called El Donk vs. The Asses of Evil
this DVD features the showdown between El Donk and The Asses of Evil live onstage at the memorial union terrace in Madison, Wi. september of 2004
this is political theater/a musical event including none other than Arnold Schwartzeneger, and several secret service agents. The video and audio from this show was confiscated by the federal government for national security purposes so we had to use bootlegged video/audio but the quality is still pretty good.

this is available on our website for 10$ US just click the shop link on the right side margin and enjoy!
The boys and i are also working on the new El Donk CD which will be out hopefully by the holiday season! which season ???? have a name for it??

This live concert DVD features footage from the memorial union terrace show as well as footage from the Mr. Robert's farrenheit 911 show.
See gorilla political theater featuring el donk as well as the asses of evil. See the arrest and detention of el donk at the hands of arnold schwantzenegger and the asses of evil's security team.
This dvd features over an hour of concert footage and some pretty funny moments in the ongoing war between el donk and the asses of evil
The dvd will be released at the maximum ink 10 yr. anniv. party this weekend april 29th 2006 @ the king club

Catch El Donk's Doors covers this Saturday's Maximum Ink 10th anniversary party at the Annex in Madison. No organs will be seen on stage. No cover charge, and some free beer! Plus other bands doing their takes on other famous acts. We play second, I think. The show starts at nine. And come on outside with us for a smoke break during the Gomers set. They suck!

Donk Back in the Studio

It's been a long time since El Donk put out a CD. Maybe...maybe too long.

So this weekend we thawed out Jim the Mad Scientist, our engineer/producer, and spent a whole long time laying down tracks.

The early results are promising. There's still a lot of work to be done -- putting in vocal tracks, mixing, laying in background tracks with the Duluth Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Marching Band -- but I think it's safe to say that this will be our first, and arguably best, CD in years.

I've had it! One more example of TOTAL NEGATIVITY from the LEFT WING NUT JOBS in the MSM (MAINSTREAMMEDIA)!!!!! I'm reading the weather page in my local "news"paper ("news "is in quotes cuz it's all BS!) and it says it's supposed to be "partly cloudy" today! So doesn't that mean it's gonna be "partly sunny"??? WHy do they always focus on the negative??!!??!!? Is it because they hate the PRESIDENT? Is it because they hate AMERICA??>? Is it because they want the TERRORISTS to WIN?????? The answer is yes, yes, YES, yes, and YES!!!!! to all of those questions! And don't get me started on FUNKY WINKERBEAN.

What we're up to these days:

We're getting ready for a show next month for Mr. Rokker for Maximum Ink's 10th anniversary show. For some reason, he wants us to do a bunch of Doors covers. Which is odd, given that we're one of those rare bands in which not one band member thinks of himself as the reincarnation of Jim Morrison. The Baron says he's the reincarnation of former Detroit Tiger starting pitcher Jack Morris (lifetime 254-186, 3.90 ERA), but that's kind of a complicated story.

So anyhow, we're spending most of our practices trying to nail down a set worth of Doors songs. Fortunately, this isn't as hard is it sounds. Or maybe it is, maybe it sounds easy to you. Who are you, anyway? Didn't I see you at Ace hardware? Dude, how many dremel tools does one guy need?
